Description of Work
This position is located at Pasquotank Correctional Institution.
It provides direct support for the Correctional Housing Unit Manager II and assumes responsibility for the overall management of the correctional housing unit in the absence of the Housing Unit Manager II.
On a daily basis, this position provides leadership, maintains attendance records, conducts investigations, oversees leave schedules, and conducts performance appraisals in addition to other administrative duties.
Assists in holding staff accountable regarding employment objectives and expectations as outlined in the performance appraisal process.
This position also implements and monitors the unit case management system providing counseling and maintaining reports related to the inmates progress through the institution.
This individual must ensure staff are alert, properly trained, informed and prepared to perform job responsibilities under a variety of conditions.
This position is responsible for ensuring proper protocol is followed with regard to security and control of protective equipment such as OC pepper spray, handcuffs, and keys and radios and equipment is properly maintained and functioning properly, and that staff are assigned the required safety equipment and are trained in its use.
Employees may serve in a variety of institutional classification committees.
Position will prepare operational reports, memorandum and documents regarding incidents such as Incident Reports, Accident Reports, Use of Force Reports.
Disciplinary Reports and Shift Narratives.
This position description is not all-inclusive and supervisor may delegate and assign other duties to positions as needed.
Hours may vary based on operational needs.
Employees report to a Correctional Housing Unit Manager II.

C.
