_ *Summary* The Society of Thoracic Surgery (STS) Data Analyst will be responsible for the abstraction, facilitation, and maintenance of all cardiothoracic and stroke databases as well as state mandated data for the cardiothoracic and stroke service lines.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities* For the cardiothoracic and stroke programs, the STS Program Data Analyst: Responsible for capturing, validating, and inputting data into the STS database for the Cardiac and Thoracic and the American Heart Association Stroke Program Get With the Guidelines.
Interprets/analyzes data to determine trends, identify causative factors, and determine opportunities for improvement for the Cardiac, Thoracic and Stroke Programs Generates outcome reports with dissemination to appropriate committees, managers, service line directors and Director Quality and Patient Safety.
Creates and presents data reports for the Cardiac Surgery Quality Committee, Thoracic Committee, and the Stroke Committee.
Ensures that all functions of the registry are met for each accredited program using the guidelines set forth by the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) and Society of Thoracic Surgeons and American Heart Association Get With the Guidelines -Stroke.
Maintains and coordinates updates of STS Database; Thoracic Database and American Heart Association Get With the Guidelines and communicates with relevant parties.
Attends annual STS conference to ensure competency in all facets of Thoracic and Cardiovascular program.
Coordinates data cleanup and data harvests on a scheduled basis.
Validates registry databases and data prior to submission to appropriate registries.
Schedules quarterly sessions, with the Cardiovascular, Thoracic surgery, and Neurology physician leaders to update them on the progress discuss data reports.
Demonstrates competency in emerging STS treatment and diagnostic modalities.
Demonstrates competency in emerging Stroke treatment and diagnostic modalities Participates in STS policy and protocol development.
Interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining Develops guidelines that identify the types of data required for analysis Designs, develops, implements, and maintains business solutions to improve overall efficiencies with programs Develops various reports and survey instruments for better data collection processes that are presented in user-friendly format Creating and implementing data management collection techniques Validates program changes and outcomes are well documented and aligned to evidenced based practice Participates in strategic planning initiatives, grant, and event coordination Performs other duties as assigned *Education and Experience* *Minimum Required Education:* Bachelor’s degree in nursing, computer science, information systems, business, or related field *Experience:* Two years of previous hospital or clinical setting in *cardiothoracic and stroke setting or *similar clinical data analysis Must have thorough knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and operative reports.
