TRADE ASSOCIATION PUBLIC POLICY COORDINATOR
This a unique and challenging position that requires a variety of skill sets.
The ideal candidate will have interest and experience in how legislative and political action impacts our communities, while having a passion for DEI principles.
Specific experience in housing and economic development advocacy will be given preference.
While this position works with committees that are event driven- the actual event management is handed off to our events staff team.
This is not an events staff position.
This is not a marketing position.
Marketing of events and programming is handed off to our marketing staff team.
This job is firmly in project and program management.
The position requires preparation and distribution of committee minutes, tracking of election campaign funds, political action funds, implement creative and innovative fundraising campaigns, and reporting to the National Association and State Association, which includes producing various reports on PAC fundraising.
Both the state and national associations have reimbursement programs of which this position provides support to all committees and staff liaisons that are part of the reimbursement program.
Community impacts are also part of the association’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programming of which this position is the primary liaison.
Responsibilities:
* Creation & distribution of minutes & agendas
* Researching reimbursement opportunities and bringing back ideas for the committees’ consideration
* Running multiple spreadsheet reports for the political fundraising committee
* Tracking political contributions
* Comfortable with public speaking and can explain abstract concepts in simple ways
* Developing creative reward systems for Major Investors ($1000 or more per year)
* Works closely with the state and national association DEI staff
* Research what other associations are doing in the political arena and the DEI space
* Ensuring Major Investors are recognized by the state association
* Submitting all reimbursement requests
* Tracking payments for reimbursement
* Manage all political calls to action
* Development and maintenance of a database of key political contacts amongst our membership
* Attends two conferences per year- 1 in Virginia and 1 national
Special Skills:
* Extreme attention to detail
* Experience in bookkeeping
* Public speaking skills a plus
* Must have a professional demeanor and presence
* Experience with Excel and MS Word
Hours:
M-F 830-5:30
Salaried position no direct reports
occasional evening work (very limited approximately 4 times per year)

Starting Salary: $50K with a salary review in 90 days- performance bonuses based on meeting fundraising targets
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $48,000.
