Athletic Trainer - Evaluate musculoskeletal condition, injuries, and chronic pain or discomfort to develop physical conditioning and therapeutic programs, including strength and conditioning, to prevent and alleviate injury or pain for student athletes, seniors with complex physical neuromuscular and flexibility issues, and other athletes requiring sophisticated training programs.
* Conduct assessments of physical condition, injury, and chronic symptoms to determine whether the client should be referred to physician for medical diagnosis and treatment or if a musculoskeletal therapy program is advised.
* Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes and program participants, adapting physical fitness programs as needed.
* Care for athletic injuries, using physical therapy equipment and techniques.
* Evaluate the appropriateness of fitness programs based on all relevant circumstances.
* Instruct coaches, athletes, participants, and community members in the care and prevention of athletic injuries and physical fitness.
* Apply protective or injury preventive devices, such as tape, bandages, or braces, to body parts, such as ankles, fingers, or wrists.
* Collaborate with other physical health professionals to develop and implement comprehensive physical rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries or chronic conditions.
* Plan and implement comprehensive athletic injury prevention programs.
* Advise athletes on the proper use of equipment.
* Develop training programs or routines designed to improve athletic performance.
* Massage body parts to relieve soreness, strains, or bruises.
* Lead stretching exercises for athletes and participants.
* Conduct research and provide instruction on subject matter related to athletic training.
Position requires (1) Master’s degree in physical education, exercise science, or closely-related field.
(2) 6 months of experience in a position focused on athletic training.
(3) Certification as Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
(4) Work schedule: must be available for client appointments Monday-Saturday 9am to 7pm with an average of 40 hours per week.
