Job Description Do you like serving others? Are you deadline driven? Are you detail oriented? If yes, this job could be for you! We are looking to hire a Customer Service Clerk III in our billing department.
Typcial task include: Supervise and review the work of 3 Customer Service Clerk II positions responsible for monthly and bi-monthly billing.
The Customer Service Clerk III serves as the account executive for commercial accounts.
Loads new customers onto commercial monthly accounts.
Loads meter data onto accounts.
Reviews reports to issue rereads in preparation for account billing.
Investigates account inquiries submitted by customers.
Reviews and makes adjustments as needed.
Prepares and processes leak adjustment requests for monthly commercial accounts.
Approves pending adjustment requests as authorized.
Trains and instructs subordinates as needed.
Reviews timecard for accuracy and approves timecards of assigned subordinates.
Prepares and presents annual performance evaluations to subordinates.
* The Customer Service Clerk III will assist subordinates with workload when necessary.
The Customer Service Clerk III must be knowledgeable in Public Utilities policies and procedures.
*Have the ability to interpret and apply City code standards and departmental procedures.
Prepares reports and statistical data as needed.
Record all large meter calibrations performed by Maintenance and Operations Division.
Processes meter changed to responsible accounts.
Required Qualifications VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires high school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in bookkeeping or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.
SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: None.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications Direct experience using Customer Information System technology and Hampton Roads Utility Billing Service programs is preferred.
At least 2 years working commercially billed accounts.
At least 2 years directly responding to commercially billed account customers including the set-up and closing of accounts, responding to billing inquiries, working with combination meters, and completing the billing process for responsible accounts.
