*GENERAL PURPOSE*
This position performs difficult technical work involving the preparation and/or maintenance of fiscal or related records.
Work is performed under general supervision.
*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*
· Performs general accounting tasks required to maintain and report financial activity.
· Trains school bookkeepers on student activity fund policies, procedures, and related software including School Funds Online and Online School Payments.
· Provides daily support for school bookkeeper questions, issues, clarification of policies and procedures, and other related guidance.
· Creates and updates job aids to support the daily work of school bookkeepers.
· Reviews monthly bank statements for the school activity funds.
· Reviews transactions including receipts, disbursements, field trips, fund-raising, inventory control, and segregation of duties related to student activity fund processes.
· Reviews annual SAF audit draft and audit comments.
· Provides year-end guidance for school bookkeepers to include review of outstanding reports, reconciliations, and other items requiring year-end close out.
· Provides input regarding procedure improvements and student activity fund manual updates.
· Assists administrators with questions regarding management of student activity funds and draw accounts.
· Processes draw reimbursements.
· Assists in monitoring the Athletic Fund.
· Develops spreadsheets, databases, etc.
to track financial information.
· Assists with travel reimbursements.
· Assists in maintaining accounts payable, general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
· Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*
· Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting or finance preferred.
· At least one year of related experience involving accounting and financial systems.
*KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*
* Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting terminology, methods, and procedures.
* Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances governing the receipt, custody, and expenditure of school funds.
* Skill in the use of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software and related equipment.
* Skill in researching, collecting, organizing, and analyzing data and preparing reports.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
* Ability to follow oral and written directions and procedures in processing accounting, purchasing, and/or fiscal documents.
* Ability to perform detailed work, identify and correct routine errors, and identify opportunities for improving efficiencies of operations performed.
*WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*
· Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
· This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, and some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
· Work requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
