Exciting responsibilities include but are not limited to: The Account Specialist I manages the daily and monthly reconciliations reports per department to include balancing of credit card activity statements, electronic data, and account receivable transactions.
Reviews, verifies, and processes invoices for payment and credits.
-Generates purchase orders.
The Account Specialist I is responsible for accurate and timely review and research of items placed in various accounts to include missing data, exceptions, re-classes, and errors placed in the database.
Ensure accurate balancing of daily reports.
Develops and make recommendation on review controls to ensure related financial disclosures are accurate in accordance with accounting processes.
The Account Specialist I is responsible for creating new accounts, invoices, documentation and payments from external customers through accurate account maintenance and communications.
Proactively monitors changes to the department to provide timely technical accounting considerations.
As an Account Specialist I you will serve as a liaison between internal and external customers regarding Public Utilities Accounting policies, procedures, and account functions.
You will be responsible departmental deposits to customer service.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Vocational/Educational Requirement: Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree in accounting or a closely related field.
Experience: In addition to satisfying the vocational/educational standard, this class requires a minimum of one year of related, full-time equivalent experience.
Special Requirements: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.
Preferred Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree, plus 3-5 years of progressive experience in Accounts receivable/Accounts Payable.
Two years of which shall be at a level requiring independence.
Can demonstrate knowledge of accounting practices, procedures, and policies of accounts receivable, payable, and customer service.
The ability to operate a personal computer and related equipment to process, develop, analyze, and create journal entries and other reconciliation data.
