is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is “to fiercely advocate for our children by ensuring that every child feels supported, valued and loved.
” The Alliance is the local administrator for Smart Start and NC Pre-Kindergarten funds.
The position is full-time and exempt and located in Elizabeth City, NC.
Responsibilities: Under the guidance of the Alliance’s Executive Director, the Finance Director oversees all financial aspects of the organization including, but not limited to:
• Compliance with and adherence to established fiscal policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
• Ensuring receipt of requested funds, reimbursements, and cash advances and follows up on any discrepancies and delayed payments.
• Updating allocations and ensuring proper application of allocation methodology.
• Developing and monitoring the annual budget, comprised of several program budgets.
• Monitoring spending and revenue using a modified-cash accounting system.
• Ensuring compliance with mandated cost principles, financial and inventory controls.
• Coding and/or review coding for all purchases.
• Preparing reports, including budget amendments and board reports.
• Coordinating and preparing the annual audit package, 990 tax preparations and 1099’s.
• Manage the year-end closing process.
• Working with the Program Managers preparing and monitoring program budgets.
• Supervision of two staff members with the fiscal team
• Compiling and maintaining records for benefit administration
Education/Experience/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, not-for-profit management, or equivalent experience required.
Applicants must have one year of experience in nonprofit fund accounting and grants management.
Compensation The salary range is $55,000 to $68,000.
This is an exempt, 40-hour a week position.
The Alliance has a robust benefit package including health, dental, and vision insurance, and PTO and sick days.
A SEP IRA plan with employer contributions is also available.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position, with a high degree of flexibility, including remote work opportunities.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Location & Travel
This position is based in Elizabeth City, NC with a minor amount of travel.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
